Mary Newark's Artwork

Mary Newark Artist Blind Artists Society

Biography
I was diagnosed with Retinitis Pigmentosa, a progressive eye disease for which there is no treatment or cure, in the early 1980s and was deemed legally blind in the mid 1990s. Before my sight became impaired and I was forced to retire, I worked as an R.N., dancer, and Reiki Master. I am also an animal lover and have volunteered in animal protection and wildlife rescue organizations. I am a mother of two grown daughters and currently live in Granite City, Illinois with my two Pugs and three cats. Art has been a lifelong interest and hobby of mine but I never had the opportunity to get formal training, so I am self-taught. I want to continue to cultivate my art before I am completely blind.  I enjoy painting with acrylics and watercolors and creating decorative gourds.
My artwork is for sale; please contact me if you are interested in purchasing any of my creations.
